Although we are standing in an open field with nothing to see far and wide but trees, meadows and shrubs, we are gripped by the feeling that with every step we might cross an invisible border. Carefully we feel our way forward, conquering one space after another. Haven’t we been here before – or have we? And from somewhere in the distance, a barely audible hum reaches our ears.

Like in a film classic from the late 1970s, Asteroid People enter a zone where one room gives way to the next. Suddenly and without warning, the comfortable green turns into solid concrete. The tempo shifts. 4/4 becomes 5/4 or 9/8. And while a moment ago it was all “hip-hop is my best friend”, a guitar sound suddenly flutters past your ears, bringing to mind a sharp projectile that must not miss its target under any circumstances.

Asteroid People stand for a driving force fuelled by a fascination with – and love of – music.

Inspired by greats such as Snarky Puppy, Polyrhythmics and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the result is a pretty funky palette: punchy first and foremost, but not without long brushstrokes.
